Larry Taylor, M.A., D.Min, B.C.C.

I am originally a small town boy from central Illinois, growing up in the smallest county in the
state. I am a veteran of the Vietnam War, and in the past several years, I have been serving our
nation's veterans as a chaplain with the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Married for thirty-eight years, my wife and I raised three children. We have lived in various
places, including Rochester, NY, Chicago, Boulder, CO, and for the last sixteen years,
Gresham, Oregon. We love the Northwest best of all.

This past year, I was a Chaplain Fellow at Puget Sound (Seattle) VA Health Care Center, and
coming home to Oregon on the weekend. I now have a specialization in mental health and
drug & alcohol treatment. I also served as an intern at the Portland VA in mental health and
liver transplant. At night, I work for Regis University as Affiliate Faculty in the Religion and
Philosophy Department.

I am also an ordained Free Methodist minister, and I have been a clergyman for over thirty
years. I have had good and bad experiences in the church world, like many people. But, there
is a line in the movie,
Rudy, by a Catholic priest, that I take as my own theology:

"In all my years, I have come to accept two
incontrovertible truths: there is a God, and I'm not him."
